Fall Exhibitions

The Opposite of Concrete at Main Street Arts

I have been in the studio quite frequently over the past several months preparing for a few upcoming exhibitions, two opening this month and one in October. First, at Main Street Arts (Clifton Springs, NY) in The Opposite of Concrete: An exhibition of abstract painting and photography. I have 6 pieces in this show and I had the pleasure of choosing the other artists and curating the show as well. There are 48 total pieces by Carl Chiarenza, Karen Sardisco, Sarah Sutton, Patricia Wilder, and Myself. It opens Saturday, September 6 with a reception from 4 to 7pm.

The second fall exhibition is at Tyler Art Gallery at SUNY Oswego (Oswego, NY) in The Continuing View, which is an exhibition looking at historic and contemporary landscapes side by side. It will feature work from regional contemporary artists as well as pieces from the college’s collection. That show opens on September 5 with a reception on Friday, September 19.

In October, I will be in the next group show with the Arena Art Group at Gallery r in Rochester. This exhibition will feature work in a variety of media by Arena Art Group members. The show opens on Friday, October 3 with a reception from 6 to 9pm.

More shows and certainly more new work on the horizon. If you’re on Instagram, follow me to see more from the studio.

Drawing Rally at Hallwalls

Hallwalls Drawing Rally, July 2014

Last night, I took part in Hallwalls‘ semi annual fundraising event, A Mid Summer Night’s Draw. It was my first time participating (and hopefully not my last). It was a lot of fun and I realized that even though I work very fast, 45 minutes is not a lot of time to make good art! I think that’s the point though… it’s a challenge.

If you missed this one and you are near the Buffalo area, make sure you get to the next one in February 2015 (I think!). If you want to know more about these drawing rallies, check this out. Below are images from last night, including my finished “drawing”.

Recently, I was accepted into the Arena Art Group (Rochester, NY). Arena is a member-based art group that has been around since 1951 and has counted in it’s ranks, many well respected and talented artists. I feel privileged to be a new member… As a new member, I have been invited to take part in an exhibition called “What’s New With Arena” at  Visions Art Gallery @ I-Square in Irondequoit, NY.

Exhibition Dates: June 10–July 10, 2014

Opening Reception: Thursday, June 19th, 7–9pm
